Return & Earn

The Return & Earn container deposit system on site, launched in 2017 as part of our Environment programming, has helped our community to recycle an extraordinary amount of materials.

A collaboration between Addi Road and Tomra, our Return & Earn is the busiest in the southern hemisphere and is helping us to mitigate the environmental impact and reduce the waste of those living across the Inner West.

The Return & Earn facility is open for you to recycle cans, bottles and glasses from 7am to 9pm seven days a week. To find out more about what can and cannot be recycled visit the Tomra website.

Every bottle, can or glass recycled makes you eligible for a small refund or donation to a listed charity (including us here at Addi Road).

NO DUMPING! When using this facility don’t dump other materials or rubbish that isn’t accepted by the machine.  Addi Road has to pay to remove any rubbish and this takes money us being able to help people with food relief.

What can you recycle?

Containers made from glass, plastic, aluminium, steel snd even liquid cardboard are all eligible to be recycled at the Return & Earn container deposit facility.

Some specific containers however are not eligible (like wine bottles!) so be sure to check the Container Eligibility website prior to your visit so you don’t leave disappointed.

Our War On Waste.

Launched in 2016 our Food Pantry service has helped rescue hundreds of tonnes of otherwise good quality fresh fruit, vegetables and other food from going to landfill.

Food insecurity is a growing problem all across Australia and we believe as one of the country’s largest non-profit community centre’s that it’s part of our responsibility to stand up and fight back.

Find out more about our War On Waste campaign and how you can get involved here.

Our Community Gardens.

With four different community gardens at Addi Road, including a composting program run in collaboration with HoboGro we’re doing our bit to support locally grown and sourced food.

The community gardens are run by volunteers and everyone is welcome to come along and pitch in.
