Ingredients
- ½ cup sugar*
- ¾ cup flour
- ½ cup (80g) butter or margarine
- 3-4 cups stewed fruit, such as apples,
pears, apricots or plums† - ½ cup rolled oats or ¼ cup desiccated coconut (optional)
To serve
Vanilla ice cream or cream
* Any sugar is fine to use, but use brown sugar if you have it.
† Substitute the stewed fruit with a large can (800g) of fruit, such as peaches. Drain off half the liquid from the can.
Let’s get cooking
Step 1
Turn on the oven and set to 180°C.
Step 2
Place the sugar, flour and rolled oats/coconut in a bowl and mix together well.
Step 3
Melt the butter/margarine in a saucepan on the stove or in the microwave on low heat.
Step 4
Add the butter to the bowl and stir through. To mix together thoroughly, you might need to use your hands.
Step 5
Using your fingers, grease a medium sized pie dish or casserole dish with butter or margarine.
Step 6
Spoon the stewed or canned fruit into the dish. Sprinkle the crumble mix over the top.
Step 7
Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes, until golden brown on top.
