EcoFest Inner West: Insights from a community coming together for the environment

What does a greener, healthier Inner West look like? And what will it take to get there?

EcoFest Inner West brought together ecologists, engineers, environmental groups, researchers, government representatives and local residents to explore these questions.

Held as part of Addi Road’s 50th anniversary year, EcoFest created space for people working across urban ecology to share knowledge, discuss challenges and find new ways to work together.

From native planting and bush regeneration to invasive weeds, pest management, tree canopy and water systems, the program brought environmental science and community action together.

Now, the EcoFest Inner West Insights report captures some of the ideas, research and recommendations that emerged from the day.

A strong message came through: environmental restoration lasts when communities are involved. Local residents, community groups, councils, researchers and industry all have a part to play.

There is plenty to learn, plenty to do and plenty of opportunity to work together.

Read the EcoFest Inner West Insights 2026 report and discover what we learned, what needs to happen next and how local communities can help shape a greener future.
