Saving Sydney’s Trees (SST) was formed by community members, concerned as a result of planning infrastructure that failed the public’s best long- term interests, at the planning stage of the CBD and South East Light Rail. Perhaps the most negative impact was when heritage trees, area strategic trees and tree canopy were taken, when the particular route for the South East Light Rail was chosen. SST believes ‘private interests’ influenced this choice over proper process, including scoping and tree maintenance standards and protocols.
“Armed with personnel who identified faults we began to see ‘consistency of demise’ across the Greater Sydney Area and in fact NSW and beyond. We are most appreciative of this chance to participate and contribute our findings as climate ready "stock" and processes in planning, become more critical”.
