Outdoor Art

As part of our commitment to supporting Arts & Culture initiatives in our community, as well as the affordable artist-led StirrUp Gallery, we offer various opportunities around our nine acre heritage site in the heart of the Inner West.

These include a quirky little outdoor sculpture or installation exhibition space called Art on the Slab, on the Gumbramorra Green, and several different wall spaces on our newer buildings and fences that may be used for murals.

Art on the Slab has been used to showcase work by students from Burwood Girls High School and art-activism for the Marrickville Peace Group by Fiona Arnold, amongst other artists, while murals have been painted around the Centre by artists including Mahmoud Salameh, Kim Siew as part of the Inner West Council Perfect Match program and local young people using spray cans, working with the Marrickville Youth Resource Centre team.

If you have a great idea for an outdoor art project and are looking for a unique location to bring it to life, think about Addi Road. Our Centre receives around one million visitors a year but still has some quiet corners where original artworks can bring surprise and inspiration.

If you need funding to get your idea off the ground, we may be able to support applications for art project funding for installations/artworks proposed for location on site, to find out more get in touch or simply fill out our expression of interest form.

Upcoming Events.

Addi Road is home to all sorts of creative exhibits both big and small throughout the year.

If you want to come along and see the next few upcoming events then simply check out our Facebook page for all the currently planned exhibits.

Be sure to check back here as more is planned and announced throughout the year.

A Living Museum.

A nine-acre heritage site where wonderful things happen every day – we think of Addi Road as a Living Museum and are working to document and share its rich history in many different ways, including our self-guided Heritage Trail, guided tours, school excursions, exhibitions and a growing history collection.

The stories of this special place reflect the major events of our nation, from the appropriation of Aboriginal land to the birth of multiculturalism, with several wars and cultural shifts in between.

Celebrating Creativity.

Here at Addi Road we’re big believer in supporting local artists, performers and other creatives – and as Australia’s largest non-profit community centre we strive to make it a core component of what we do here.

Whether it’s with the Public Schools Arts Festival, providing The StirrUp Gallery at heavily subsidised rates for exhibitions or our Outdoor Arts programs we’re always trying to do our bit to help Arts & Culture thrive here in the Inner West.
