Candy Royalle was a powerful voice, a poet, a storyteller, and a tireless champion for the visibility and empowerment of women artists of colour.

For more than a decade, Candy was an indomitable presence in Sydney’s performance poetry scene, captivating audiences with her raw talent and unwavering passion. Although Candy tragically passed away at 37 after a battle with ovarian cancer, her spirit and influence lives on through her work. A bold, versatile performer, Candy collaborated with hip-hop artists, filmmakers, and musicians, and contributed her wisdom to the advisory council for Australian Poetry.

A mural is being created in her honour, a tribute to the lasting impact of her artistry. To learn more about the project and how you can support it, check out the link here.
