23jun12:00 pm1:30 pmForum: "After the Election"What way forward for the refugee movement?

Event Details

Tim O’Connor (Amnesty International)
Shamindan Kanapadhi (from Manus Island, via Skype)
Imogen Szumer (Refugee Action Coalition)

The shock election result means that we have another three years of the Liberals’ hardline anti-refugee policies. Even the small changes that might have sent 150 refugees from Manus and Nauru to New Zealand are off the agenda. And refugees on temporary protection visas or reliant on government support payments face further punishment. There remain at least 800 people on Manus and Nauru that we must keep fighting to bring to Australia. Join us to discuss what the election result means and how we can continue to fight for refugees and against racism.
